Travel Spotlight: Paris, France

After only a few days in London, we made our way down to Paris. I have been dreaming of France since I was sitting in my high school French class learning how to order espresso and a morning pastry. To say this place was magical would be an understatement. I loved everything about it, from the crammed alleys to the couples picnicking on the River Seine. I even loved the clouds of cigarette smoke I had to navigate through on my way to the bakery- it was just so French.

Every day we would pass perfectly placed shops like this:

We made sure to get out of our Airbnb and explore every day we were in the city. We were staying in Montmartre, the artist district of Paris. Only a short walk away from the apartment was this beauty- the Basilica du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre. This is also the highest point in Paris, so if you want beautiful views (and to reach your fitbit step goal) head to the top of the Sacre-Coeur, which has been standing since 1875.

Also close to our spot in Montmartre was an array of adorable shops filled with fine jewelry, farm-fresh cheeses, and aged wine that only the French could make so delicious. While in Paris we had an almond pastry every morning, and every night we dined on a very classy meal consisting of bread, brie, and chocolate.

There were aspects to Paris that were smelly, dingy, and at times even a bit scary. But we met people that were so willing to help confused travelers find their way and it truly wouldn't have been such an experience if we didn't get down to the true nitty gritty of the city. I loved it here. I can't wait to return.
